I'm fortunate that the closest Restoration Hardware store is in Vancouver. Even though I can spot that city's ski-lift lighting from a mountain restaurant near Sidney, it takes a half-day to get there by ferry and car, not to mention the cost. Restoration Hardware, a trendy furniture and decorating chain, is offering a line of Mustang classic models in 1:24 scale and 1:64 scale. It includes a silver '66 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C, blue Cobra Supersnake, red '68 G.T. 500KR coupe, black '68 GT 500 convertible, and the GT 350H coupe, available only in 1:24 scale. Much as I enjoy mucking about Restoration Hardware just to admire the classy goods, I'd find some of these models irresistable, in particular the 1966 1966 Shelby Cobra 427 S/C shown above. Built with over 150 separate components it features a hood, trunk and doors that open, a steering wheel that turns the front wheels, leather upholstery, and an engine-accurate down to the spark-plug wires. Authorized and authenticated by Carroll Shelby, who calls it "the finest re-creation of my very own Cobra." Regularly priced at $159, it's now available for $110.99. Merry Christmas, lucky someone.
