Russo and Steele's Scottsdale auction is traditionally a little different from its competitors, as the firm specialises in muscle cars, hot rods, customs, and European sports cars. Located at the intersection of the Loop 101 Freeway and Scottsdale Road, in North Scottsdale, the event was held over four days in 200,000 square feet of tents, this year totaling $19,831,080 with a 61% sales rate. Top five prices went for a 1969 chevrolet corvette at $412,500, a 1971 Plymouth Cuda Coupe at $396,000, a 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle Coupe that sold for $341,000, a 1971 Ferrari 365 GTB going for $319,000, and a 1966 Lamborghini 350 GT Coupe, which went under the hammer at $283,800. In 2009 Russo and Steele plans a major change in format by eliminating "no reserve" sales, which owner Drew Alcazar believes "will serve to best perpetuate the high level of integrity enthusiasts have come to expect from the company." A nice way of saying that the firm plans on raising the standard of cars offered, eliminating the commonplace in favor of higher quality.
