Santa Claus is Coming to Town in a Classic Wooden Hot Rod

The Automoblox Hot Rod

As one who is inevitably so late buying Christmas presents he ends up paying FedEx more for shipping than the cost of the gifts, it may seem odd that I would dare to mention the "X" word before the first snowflake even falls. But every so I often I spot something unusual that would make a fine gift from, or to, a car enthusiast and feel compelled to draw it to your attention. Thus this wooden model from Automoblox, a maker of heirloom quality toy cars, is one that may be worthy of advance holiday shopping. The company is launching a set of new vehicles, starting with a T900 pickup. After that comes something totally different from Automoblox: HR1, HR2 and HR3 hot rods complete with grilles, period-correct wheels, and sometimes an exposed engine; available, like the truck, in full-size and (very affordable) mini versions. Top of the line is a combination of both, with a truck, an HR2 hot rod and a trailer to pull it with. Note: The T900 and hot rod line is all-new and as of this writing prices have not been announced, so keep an eye on the Automoblox site.
