Concours
by Philip Powell on April 18, 2007

Many of those red rectangles in this airiel photo, and most of the other colours, too, represent Ferraris appearing in last year's "Concorso Italiano", the annual celebration of Italian style that opens the traditional Monterey/Pebble Beach weekend. The 2007 event promises even more red as Concorso pays homage to the 50th Anniversary of the Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet and 250 California Spyder. Also featured will be a jaw-dropping collection of Siata 8V's and Fiat 8V's, along with an honoring of the 35th Anniversary of the Maserati 3500 GT, and the reunion of the Lamborghini Countach. In addition, Concorso Italiano will honour iconic Italian designer Ugo Zagato (1890-1968) - known as "The Master of Light." As a pleasant diversion from a staggering collection of cars, 2007 will see the return of the Italian Fashion Show and Village. I was privileged to attend the 2006 show and was delightfully shocked at seeing so many rare and beautiful Italian cars in one place. This year's "Concorso" takes place August 17th as part of the famed "Pebble Beach" classic car week.
