Steve McQueen Tests

Sports Illustrated magazine, always in tune with the lifestyles of its readers, in 1966 asked actor Steve McQueen to test a group of grand touring cars at Riverside Raceway. His remarks and opinions, plus some wonderful photos, thus became "the grist of a feature story". Thankfully not lost to history, for blogger "Chuck Goolsbee" has uncovered the article and laid out every page, picture, and word for us to see and enjoy. McQueen was an accomplished racer, producer of the LeMans movie, star of Bullitt with its fabulous chase scenes, and an obvious choice as Hollywood road tester. The cars included a Jaguar E-type 2+2, Aston-Martin DB6, Ferrari 275 GTS, Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider, Porsche 911, Mercedes 230 SL, Corvette Stingray, and 427 Cobra. Steve's review includes remarks on handling, performance, a little background on his own racing experiences plus thoughts on American-made vehicles... and photos of him putting the cars through their paces. Which leads me to wonder, if I were hiring a contemporary star to do the same with a selection of classic GT's, who would I choose? Who would you choose?
