Nothing pleases me more than to see people in their 80's having a good time, working hard, still creating. I'm not that far off that age myself so such folks are a source of inspiration as well as proving that 80 isn't ancient anymore. Jim Wangers and Art Fitzpatrick are Living Proof of this, having just collaborated on a book called Pontiac Pizzaz! Wangers and Fitzpatrick are, as the Petersen Museum puts it, "more closely associated than anyone else with the glory days of Pontiac in the 1960s and 1970s. Jim Wangers helped to steer Pontiac down a road of success as Pontiac's marketing man. He was responsible for creating the mystique behind the GTO and co-created several other Pontiac specialty cars. Art Fitzpatrick produced some of the greatest car art of all-time for Pontiac's Wide-Track advertisements."
Wangers and Fitzpatrick will be appearing at several book signings in California (you're welcome to do the same here in BC, guys!), in particular one at L.A.'s Petersen Museum on Tuesday, September 25th, and another at Ricky & Ronnie's Cruise-In Diner in Torrance on Sunday, September 30th. Their book features 15 of Pontiac's most significant cars with narrative by Jim Wangers, accompanied by new Fitzgerald paintings of each. During the Petersen evening the authors will elaborate on the story of the book and reflect on the making of the Pontiac success story. Five days later at Ricky & Ronnie's, Sunday will start with a cruise to the diner for a buffet lunch followed by a show 'n shine and book-signing party. Jim and Fitz will present four lucky owners with a Pontiac Pizzaz "Pick of the Day" - awarding each an autographed book. Several autographed prints will also be awarded.
