Stolen Chevy and Trailer

It's difficult to imagine a car thief so dumb he'd steal a vintage car and trailer combination and just drive away. As Nigel Matthews, who sent me this advisory, said: "this would stick out like a sore thumb going down the highway!" The 1952 Chevrolet coupe and 1954 Shasta trailer in the photo were taken from Victoria, BC on Wednesday night, Feb 28, by someone who is either very aware of collector car prices or very, very stupid.

Sadly, a market does exist for stolen classics of all types, so it's quite possible they were driven a short distance then spirited away in an enclosed trailer to a hidden location. The car and trailer could be sold as is to an offshore client, perhaps with the original numbers altered, or they could be disassembled and the parts merchandised to unsuspecting buyers. Let's hope the perp makes a mistake so this beautiful combo can be returned undamaged. I'm sure the owner is heartbroken, for even if insurance covers the loss it's often impossible to find an identical replacement. Keep an eye, folks.
