Stunning New Replica of Classic Ford Cabriolet

36 Ford Model

My brother Alan might, I think, covet this "1:24 scale model from the Danbury Mint". He once owned a 1936 Ford Cabriolet that was, I believe, his first car and if memory serves me, would have been purchased in the mid-50's. We never thought of such cars as classics then; they were just nice old cars that could be bought for the proverbial song. The model is loaded with a host of working parts and is limited to a run of 5000, individually numbered on a special golden plaque on the undercarriage. danbury mint assures us that this classic Cabriolet is painted in the authentic factory color of Bambalino Blue. To be honest, I can't recall the color of Alan's car; I wonder, can he? 7-1/2" in length, the model sells for $140, which is probably what my brother paid for his full-size Ford.

  • Philip’s brother Alan (thats me) did indeed have a ’36 Ford as pictured, it was a lighter blue color. Think it was 1952 when I bought it from someone who had it sitting in their yard and indeed as a kid its unlikely that I paid over $100. Ran just fine.
Kept if for a couple of years and I now have a Franklin Mint replica of it on the sideboard (that was less than $140).
