Testing the Porsche 911 Carrera Targa4S
Filed in archive Test Drives by Philip Powell on July 12, 2007

In between writing classic car articles for Creative Weblogging I get to test a variety of new vehicles for About.com's new cars
site. The most recent was a Porsche 911 Carrera with Targa roof, 4-wheel-drive, plus the "S" performance option. Seeking an ideal place to take photos I was able to persuade the good folks at the BC Air Museum (next door at Canada's Victoria International Airport) to let me pose the car "airside" where the old planes would offer a natural background for this high-performance automobile.About's Cars Guide Aaron Gold is also an aircraft enthusiast so he eagerly blogged the images on the site and a day later promoted the review. I'm flattered by his comments, particularly after I suggested the 911 Targa 4S is overloaded with technology. Classic car enthusiasts will no doubt agree that a sports car should be pared to the bones, leaving oversteer and understeer to the driver's ability. It's a phenomenal automobile but for the $150,000 Canadian, I could buy two Miatas, a decent powerboat, and maybe enough hours to start flying again.
