Concours

The idea of including antique boats and classic cars in one show is a good one but it won't work everywhere. Water is an essential element. Luckily there's no shortage at the Lakewood Yacht Club in in Seabrook, Texas, home of the 11th Annual Keels & Wheels classic car and wooden boat show, May 6-7. The organisers promise the finest in automotive classics plus exotics from the golden age of boating. If Texas wasn't so far from Vancouver Island, I'd be there for this one; since my teenage years I've admired the beautiful wooden speedboats built in Muskoka by Greavette and Ditchburn, so any combination of classic boats and cars appeals to me. Ah well, there's always Kirkland in September.
