The Beauty of a Buick Roadmaster
Filed in archive Concours by Philip Powell on August 16, 2006
The Blackhawk Collection is a museum based in Danville California but like many of its kind, is constantly selling and refreshing itself. Each year at the Pebble Beach
Concours it displays a number of classics on the lawns of the Peter Hay golf course and in an adjoining tent. All of these cars are for sale. Wandering across the grass I found myself drawn to this 1941 Buick Roadmaster Convertible, whose lines are impeccable, a reminder of a time when American auto design was second to none. A frame-off restoration, the 41 Buick can be purchased by anyone who happens to have a spare $155,000. Much prettier than any muscle car could ever hope to be, it personifies elegance on wheels. Seems to me a bargain if I hadn't spent my pocket money in nearby Carmel on an illustrated book featuring great American (and some Canadian) wooden speedboats.Permalink: The Beauty of a Buick Roadmaster
