Concours
by Philip Powell on August 16, 2006
The Blackhawk Collection is a museum based in Danville California but like many of its kind, is constantly selling and refreshing itself. Each year at the Pebble Beach Concours it displays a number of classics on the lawns of the Peter Hay golf course and in an adjoining tent. All of these cars are for sale. Wandering across the grass I found myself drawn to this 1941 Buick Roadmaster Convertible, whose lines are impeccable, a reminder of a time when American auto design was second to none. A frame-off restoration, the 41 Buick can be purchased by anyone who happens to have a spare $155,000. Much prettier than any muscle car could ever hope to be, it personifies elegance on wheels. Seems to me a bargain if I hadn't spent my pocket money in nearby Carmel on an illustrated book featuring great American (and some Canadian) wooden speedboats.

Agreed that this is far more beautiful than any muscle car. But I still want a '69 Road Runner 440
