The Deuce, Celebrating the Definitive Hot Rod
Filed in archive Ford , Fun Events , Hot Rods by Philip Powell on December 20, 2006
2007 marks the 75th anniversary of the 1932 Ford, a landmark vehicle in the history of the Ford Motor Company. Its famous "flathead" V8 engine was first in the low-price field and the car's graceful design, created by Edsel Ford, translated perfectly into a variety of body styles. In the early 1940's used '32 coupes and roadsters gained new life as the definitive American hot rod, thanks in part to an engine that could be cheaply and reliably modified. The car's many fans affectionately nicknamed it "the Deuce." Anniversary celebrations will take place January 26-28th at the Grand National Roadster Show; from February 7th at the NHRA Motorsports Museum; and from February 19th to 24th at the Petersen Museum. Of special interest will be the auctioning of a Deuce replica at the Barrett-Jackson Auction in Scottsdale, January 13-21. It is the first of a special run of 100 75th Anniversary cars based on the Dearborn
Deuce by Hot Rods & Horsepower, the only all-steel 1932 Ford Roadster replica to incorporate a modern convertible top and power side windows. The car will be autographed and driven by Edsel B. Ford II (seen here with the Deuce Replica), great grandson of Henry Ford and member of Ford's Board of Directors. 100% of the auction proceeds will be donated to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.Permalink: The Deuce, Celebrating the Definitive Hot Rod
