Some cars just look right no longer how long ago they were designed and built. Case in point: the 1958 Alfa romeo Guilietta shown at this year’s Concorso Italiano. That’s almost 50 years ago and yet the coupe is just as lovely and desireable as the day it rolled out of the factory. In fact the Guilietta was not intended to be a single model; rather it was the basis for an entire range of cars, including a basic sedan. But the coupe came first, a 2+2 whose inspired lines, created by Bertone, were sheer perfection. Perrformance was motivated by a twin-overhead-cam four-cylinder aluminum-block engine that became a classic in its own right. Initially producing 80 hp it could drive the Guilietta to a top speed of 103 mph but later versions were quicker still. As sports coupes go, this one is an enduring champion.

You are so right! If you were still doing the About Classic site I would suggest a write-in.
How about the Isuzu 117 Coupe?
– Hmmm… that’s new (old?) to me. I’ll look it up.

I’ve driven a few Guilettas over the years, mostly belonging to other Alfa Club members, and they are one of the purest-driving cars ever made. Not to mention beautiful.
