The (yawn!) Woodward Dream Cruise
Filed in archive As We See Things by Philip Powell on August 22, 2007

It is difficult for me, living on the west coast, to appreciate the Woodward Dream Cruise. Cruising wasn't part of my automotive culture even though I was born and raised in Toronto, a mere 200 miles from Detroit and similar in many respects. Perhaps its my age or maybe it's because I got into sports cars, road racing, and rallying instead of rods
and customs. So, sitting here reading about the event on my computer, I don't get it, although 1,000,000 spectators supposedly do. The photos make the Cruise look like nothing more than a 17-mile long traffic jam of old cars, many of them undistinguished except for the year they were made. However I'm always willing to admit when I'm wrong, which is where you come in. Check theCarConnection's coverage, as good as any on the Net, and in particular the photos. Decide if you agree, and tell us your view, using the "Comments" box below. Is the Cruise really a grand event or is it over-rated by media hype?[photo: thecarconnection.com]
