Vintage Racing
by Philip Powell on August 19, 2006
Those who love the rumble of big V-8's certainly got their kicks at the 2006 Monterey Historics, which cap a wonderful week of classic car shows and events in Pebble Beach, downtown Monterey, and Laguna Seca. The Trans-Am cars, representing one of the glory periods of North American road racing, were especially entertaining. Camaros, Mustangs, Firebirds, Javelins, cougars and Barracudas battled nose to tail just as they did more than a quarter of a century ago. As mentioned in the previous blog I wasn't in a position to secure high quality track photos but perhaps this shot of some Trans-Am competitors drifting through a corner will give you an impression of just how much fun vintage racing can be for drivers and spectators alike.
