They call it the Tuner Generation; young people (mostly, though not entirely, men) who modify new and used cars in order to stand apart from the masses. Many of the mods are performance-oriented, some are purely decorative, and some involve changing cars into concert halls through the use of multi-speaker, high-watt sound systems. A few even add television or DVD video screens, hopefully where they can't be viewed while driving. However, as we all know, nothing is really new. Contributor Nigel Matthews drew this to our attention with his photo of a 1959 Cadillac dashboard at last year's Barrett-Jackson auction. There, to his (and my) surprise was a factory-installed television set! Judging by the picture, it resides behind a flip-down panel... probably a good idea when pulled over by a curious police officer. Adding charm to the Caddy's flash-and-splash interior is the TV set's design, very much of the 50's. Black & white, definitely not flat screen. Assuming the set still works, the buyer of the Cadillac got himself a rare and novel accessory, which he can show off to any of the Tuner Generation who think they invented in-car entertainment.

--- Could be. I didn't see the car but Nigel was under the impression the TV was factory-installed and real. Thanks for your comment.
