Ah, yes, what can I add to the accolades regarding Jaguar's E-Type, including the glamorous coupe seen here? Barons of the UK suggests it might be an ideal gift for one's spouse. Or a perfect gift from one's spouse. Or girlfriend or lover or whomever. The car is featured in Barons Yuletide Sale at Sandown Park on December 9th. Barons makes the following suggestion: "There's even the ultimate present for a sporting wife- a 1962 Jaguar E-Type SI 3.8 FHC, chassis no. 232, which is being offered complete with the unforgettable registration number WAG 7. This glamorous machine has been stored since 1981. Now fully re-commissioned and MoT'd, it is a completely unrestored, original example. Estimate: £25,000-30,000." Which seems almost affordable for us plebes, even in today's economic meltdown.
Another offering that appeals to me is the 1973 Aston Martin DBS V8i (estimate £25,000- 35,000) with just 27,000 miles from new and having a fascinating history. It was once owned by a gentleman who kept it under a dust sheet in his billiard room, and was subsequently owned by a Red Arrows pilot, Flight Lieutenant A. F. Parkinson. Red Arrows is the name of Britain's RAF aerobatic team, one of the world's finest. Clicking here will take you to the Red Arrows site, beginning with a video welcome from the team leader. These guys love to fly fast but they also appreciate great road hardware.

You may be right, Rose, but give me one and I promise to treat it with loving care, as befits a thoroughbred.
