Uniquely Canadian Cars Star in 1950s Collection

Canadian Meteor

A couple of years ago I did a blog about Ted and Sharon Forbes and their remarkable collection of 1950s cars, but I really didn’t do credit to these fine folks. It was a chilly winter’s day and all the cars had to be photographed indoors, in the Forbe’s garage. Not the best lighting, not much room to move around. Recently friends have been sending me images from a site featuring all the cars of The MountainTop Collection. It appears to have been enlarged since I was there, so if you like North American cars from that period be sure to click on the link. You’ll note that I said “North American”. The reason is that Ted includes Canadian marques like the 1956 Meteor Crown Victoria above. He says “we restored this car in 1990 and drove it to Ocean Shores, Washington for its first drive. It is has full power with all accessories except air.” In those years Canadian factories manufactured cars exclusively for this country, including some with distinctive styling touches and nameplates, such as the Meteor, which was actually a dressed-up Ford sold by Mercury dealers.

  • Damn, more chrome than a Olds 98! I like the Ford better in this case.
