Vintage Aircraft Meet Vintage Vauxhalls
Filed in archive British Cars by Philip Powell on August 06, 2007

Each summer in early August the British Columbia Aviation Museum, located just down the road from here, adjacent to Victoria International Airport, holds an Open House. The focus is on the Museum's collection and visiting planes but also includes a selection of vintage automobiles. This being a classic cars site I must resist filling it up with shots of wonderful old aircraft but here's a photograph of the Museum's flyable (though grounded due to exorbitant demands by the Insurance Nazis) Norseman bush plane next to a 1950's Vauxhall Cresta. Yes, this is a boring family auto, as were many sedans in that era, but I couldn't resist including it if only because few such imports survived in North America. Vauxhall was purchased by GM as any easy way to gain access to the UK market and not surprisingly followed Detroit design dictates. Think of it an an English Chevy.
