Visiting England in July? Don’t Miss This!

Mercedes Racer in Hillclimb

Oh, to be in Goodwood, England, from July 7th through the 9th, for the annual Festival of Speed! Honoring the history of motorsport and the heroes who made it, this is the only occasion where you will see in action the greatest competition cars and star drivers from all eras: everything from 19th century steam carriages to Formula One. This year’s Festival will feature former F1 Champion Mika Hakkinen, who will drive a number of historic Mercedes racing cars up the hillclimb circuit. Also confirmed are F1 legends Nigel Mansell, Sir Jack Brabham, Sir Jackie Stewart, Damon Hill, Alan Jones and John Surtees. A Forest Rally Stage, introduced in 2005, mirrors a World Rally Championship special stage and will provide an opportunity to watch a host of rally champions, including Colin McRae, Marcus Gronholm, Hannu Mikkola, Rauno Aaltonen and Sandro Munari. Further motorsport heroes participating in the hillclimb competition are Sir Stirling Moss, Jochen Mass, Jacky Ickx, Derek Bell, 200-times NASCAR winner Richard Petty, TransAm champions Bob Tullius (in his Group 44 Jaguar XJS) and Hurley Haywood (Audi 200 Quattro). There’s more, much more, which you can discover at this Festival of Speed link.
