Nothing like a contest to boost audience numbers, so the New York Times autos section has one aimed at classic car fans. Awfully nice of them, as how often does that happen in our hobby? Win two tickets to the Goodwood Revival? Right, I'll take it! In this case the winner gets two tickets to the New York International Auto Show in April, which is only useful if you live in the area or happen to be traveling to Manhattan at the time. Nevertheless contests are fun and you can always give the winning tickets to your cousin in Brooklyn. The contest invites you to vote for the Collectible Car of the Year from among thirty finalists. Note: that's "collectible" not "classic." There is a difference, for although all classics are collectibles, not all collectibles are classics, at least not in the true sense of the word. I've chosen a rather ordinary collector car, this 1935 Ford 5-Window Coupe, simply because the second car I owned was one just like it, right down to the color. It's newly refurbished, finished in September of this year, located in Beirut, Lebanon, has 150,000 miles on the clock.
