Classical cars, including the history of the great classical automobiles

Welcome to the Ferrari Celebration Party

The Shell Historic

You had to be there, I guess, to really appreciate the sights and sounds of the Final Mondiali but Classic Driver magazine offers us a great online look at Ferrari's annual end-of-season salute to the Tifiosi. It alternates on two circuits, Monza and Mugello (the latter Tuscan rolling circuit being this year's locale) and brought together the stars and cars of Ferrari's winning race teams, which for 2007 included F1, GP2, and first in class in the American Le Mans Series. Of course world champion Kimi Raikonnen, race director Jean Todt and Ferrari head Luca di Montezemolo were in attendance, as was the incomparable Michael Schumaker, who drove some demonstration laps (no helmet, just his baseball cap!) to remind everyone of who's still the greatest. There was real racing with the F430 Challenge cars in two classes plus the older Ferraris in the Shell Historic Challenge. Looking at those cars in the above photo, I can almost hear those V-12's screaming. Take a look at Classic Driver editor Steve Wakefield's story and if you don't get your kicks from this, man, you're just not living!
