Philip Powell is an award-winning Canadian writer who began as a motorsports commentator, magazine editor, and class-winning road racer. This was followed by a lengthy career in the ad agency business, which took him first to New York and then to London as creative director of the Ford of Europe account. After six years abroad, Powell returned to Canada, writing and directing commercials for Esso (Exxon), General Motors Canada and BMW USA. After a period as a freelance copywriter he returned to automobile journalism and since 1997 has worked exclusively for the Internet.
